Warhammer Fantasy characterizes the Dwarves as a race of man children who just sit on their asses constantly complaining about stuff but barely ever do anything about it. In one Book a Dwarf is willing to let the entire world end just to see the elves get fucked. Really encapsulates the type of people who like Dwarves, Nothing burger creatures
I just like the idea of great stone halls under the mountains. Very formative memories playing the LOTR MMO as a group of dwarves with my friends as well. Can't forget about games like Deep Rock Galactic as well shaping the image of dwarves as blue collar workers crafting the best weapons to kill as many aliens as possible. Never wanted to be one personally though, im 5'10", terrible beard genetics, so never really crossed my mind
The whole dwarf push I've seen over the last ten years or so has felt artificial. The anti-elf stuff you'll see from millennials seems performative (and safe edgy). I've always been partial to elves. Seldom are they not the first race I roll in a cRPG. I can't bring myself to roll a dwarf character seriously unless he's just a companion.
Gnomes seem to be in an odd place in many settings. They often are portrayed in a jewish way or just goofy with unnatural hair colours. Arcanum, one of my favourites, makes them jews down to forcefully race-mixing ogres with humans. Outside of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, I can't really think if gnomes I like. Half-men in general seem to be relegated as dwarves or comic relief.
Incredibly goated game, really strong lore on the whole magic vs technology and the industrial revolution affecting everything. Charisma builds are OP. Would recommend getting the unofficial patch though.
"John Ronald Reuel Tolkien’s (aka JRR Tolkien) great-grandson Nicholas Tolkien – born to Tolkien’s grandson Simon and a jewess named Tracy Steinberg – (1) is an interesting case study in the power of jewish identity.
Superficially you’d be inclined to think that Tolkien – who after all is only half jewish racially but in halakhah (i.e. jewish religious law) he would be jewish because his mother was jewish – might have gone either way in terms of his self-identity.
However, as Tolkien makes clear in his interview with Aish.com he identifies as a jew and not in any way, shape or form as a non-jew."
"Quite frankly – despite the Tolkien family’s attempts to make JRR Tolkien out to be an extreme philo-Semite – I think that devoutly Catholic and honest author of the Lord of the Rings would be rolling in his grave."
We'll never know I guess, his descendants certainly fucked his legacy quite semitically after Christopher gave up, and even Christopher let his son marry a yenta...
Baltic and Scandinavian populations developed separately for thousands of years. Balts have significant eastern hunter gatherer ancestry and notably less from neolithic farmer populations.
Great post. You mentioned mountain people and it reminded me of a video I saw a while ago by a Georgian man (country, not the state) and how he saw similarities between dwarves and the mountain peoples of the Caucuses.
P.S. When it comes to fantasy and Sci-Fi, I’m a human supremacist, but elves are honorary and for sci-fi/sci-fi fantasy like Star Wars, I like the Wookies, Chiss, and the Kaleesh.
And yes, Hobbit life is good as a hobby, but not a full lifestyle.
I am a bit wine happy at the moment, so forgive any spelling errors. First off, download Drog's patch for the game (just buy/acquire the gog version, steam is AIDs fir old games). Arcanum takes the fantasy genre and puts it at turn of the 19th century english world. You have newspapers detailing ancient finds, dapper dandies, ill-prepared knightly kingdoms adjusting to the new, gunpowdered world. You can play various types of men as a result. Do you want to be a luddite mage? You can do that and teleport acorss the world fatser than any steam engine can carry you. Do you want to be a gunslinger that relies on his knowledge of technology to overcome the more mystical parts of the world? It'll be harder than innate magick, but it is rewarding. I'm not going to lie and say that Arcanum is some based look at fantasy phrenology. It's simply a thrusting of fantasy races into a victorian setting. My favourite part of the game is experiencing the ancient, failing world. It invokes my favourite rhetorical question, which you'll find in Tolkien, "Ubi sunt que ante nos fuerunt?." In short, Arcanum has you delve in to a world of cylces of tech and magick. It was more advanced than it seems, yet it collapsed all the same. It's up to you to heed or ignore ancient prophecies.
This made me realise I shluld make a post for Arcanum to properly sell it
All the North Sea protestants (Anglos, Dutch, Scandos etc) are certainly a sea-people (Tolkein's sea longing comes to mind), but also and firstly as Germanics all of us are undoubtedly forest people. The two things probably go together as living and roving in places that literally 'sway' in the wind. It is dynamic movement that is key.
Everything from Yggdrasil to the scared groves to our lighter skin that changes with the seasons to our perspective regarding the passage of time and even the design of the Cathedrals themselves screams people of the temperate deciduous forest. It's no accident that the great culture most similar to us in many ways, China, is from a similar environment. It's why Japan was easily able to embrace our culture and even do parts of it better than us.
I don't necessarily think Tolkein's portrayal of the obviously Jewish Dwarves was negative, merely he was completely aware of their strengths and weaknesses and didn't pull punches. I gather Jews who are honest with themselves probably like the portrayal.
Gnomes are real and reside in Latinx America
Great article, but gnomemaxxing is based and we need moar gnomes.

For a real world example of a primarily mountain dwelling people my mind is drawn to those of the Caucuses, the Georgians in particular.
It depends on if Georgians originated in the Colchis lowland or not, I guess. Many subgroups today are mountain men though.
Quechuans also live primarily on the Andes mountains no matter the country. (Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and even, Argentina)
Was about to say, the Andean latinx are the most "mountain" race I can think of. Maybe the Tibetans too...

Give me your pitch on Arcanum - a buddy wants me to play, and it does look good, but idk
I don’t know this
racism if it was a crpg

90% of men can halt balding and even reverse it if they catch it at Norwood 1-2 stage using medication.
The other 10% should just use hair systems.
Monte Negro and parts of Albania are good examples of mountain people.

I'm a peak elf chad.
And to keep the national larp, Baltoids are
>tall
>low population
>live in forests/heavily forested lands
>weird, ancient/primordial language
>surprisingly good at fighting on an individual soldier level
>had an empire in the past
>known for singing
We are wood elves.
We love our Baltic friends here. Almost as much as we love our Swedish friends.
Aren’t Swedes also Baltic?
No
But the Swedish coastline is almost entirely on the Baltic Sea
Baltic refers to the land on the southeast coast of the Baltic Sea, not just every group with a border on the Baltic Sea.
Baltic and Scandinavian populations developed separately for thousands of years. Balts have significant eastern hunter gatherer ancestry and notably less from neolithic farmer populations.
The Baltic Sea is RIGHT FUCKING THERE lapping up on the Swedish shoreline
Baltic is an ethnic identifier, not a geographical one.
you have an IQ of 6 lmao.
7, but who is counting?
Keyed and Elf-pilled
